Dorothy Everett arrived in Oakland, California from West Point, Alabama in 1957. With $700 and a vision to feed her community, she opened the first Everett & Jones Barbeque on 92nd Avenue.
Today, her daughters and granddaughters carry on her legacy, slow-smoking meats over open pits with the exact same secret sauce recipe that made E&J an East Bay institution.
